Monty Taylor founded Montgomery Taylor and Company LLC in his pursuit to provide the best integrated financial planning, investment and tax services to his clients. As both a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner, Monty has over 30 years of investment and financial advisory experience. His passion is working with middle- to high-income clients to help them achieve their financial goals and the stability and lifestyle they’re seeking for and during retirement.
As a highly credentialed professional in the investment consulting industry and an experienced institutional manager, he has worked as a key executive for a $700 million pension plan. As a personal wealth advisor, he has coached many high net-worth individuals and couples in Sonoma and Marin counties.
Mr. Taylor personally counsels individual clients on wealth management strategies, and he is readily accessible for questions and financial and/or tax consultations with his clients.
Monty grew up in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County. He married his junior college sweetheart, Terri, in 1979, and together they have raised three great kids.

Rob Kirby, a native of Michigan, joined our staff in 2010. He has been in accounting and financial services since moving to California in 1975 – starting his career as a corporate accountant with McKesson in San Francisco, then as MIS Director at Ross Stores, and later as CFO at Canterbury of New Zealand. Rob started Kirby Financial Group in 1985 down in Pacifica, at first specializing in consulting to small business. The firm quickly expanded to offer income tax preparation, accounting, and financial planning services, eventually growing to over 1,000 clients. Rob has been an Enrolled Agent since 1986 and a Certified Financial Planner since 1988. In 2004, Rob sold his practice and moved back to Michigan to be near his elderly mother. Rob recently moved back to California and now lives only two blocks from our office.
Rob attended high school at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in northern Michigan and spent three years playing clarinet and saxophone in US Army Bands in the midwest. Rob holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Illinois, and an MBA in Accounting as well as a Graduate Certificate in Taxation from Golden Gate University. Rob has two grown children, one in Southern California and one in Portland.
In his leisure time, you can find Rob playing music, golf, or racquetball.

Eric Gullotta is an attorney and CPA with offices in Santa Rosa and Sonoma. He focuses on estate planning, trust administration, and probate as well as the preparation of estate documents including trusts, will, advanced healthcare directives and POA. Further specialties are taxation and business formation. He represents clients in audits, debt settlement, or to refute claims when appearing before the IRS.
Eric is excited to open a new location in the same location as Montgomery Taylor where he and Montgomery will be able to serve his clients' needs in conjunction with Montgomery's tax and wealth planning team. Working closely with Montgomery will allow him to monitor his client's legal needs during the implementation of Montgomery's tax and investment strategies.
Eric received his bachelor's degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara in economics and accounting. After graduation he worked for a Napa CPA firm while he studied for and passed the CPA exam and became a licensed CPA in the State of California. Furthering his qualifications and interest in estate work, he earned a master’s degree with honors in Taxation from Golden Gate University in San Francisco while working full time at Richard A. Gullotta, CPA, MBA, Inc. Seeing the need for a special combination of education and experience, without taking a summer off, Eric immediately enrolled at Empire College in Santa Rosa, where he received his Juris Doctor Cum Laude while working and starting a family. After passing the California State Bar, Eric worked for Sonoma County's largest law firm, Perry, Johnson, Anderson, Miller, and Moskowitz. He has recently added business formation services at his private practice in the City of Sonoma, California. His growing interest in national economics led to publication of his article on the tax effects of real estate foreclosures was published in the Spring 2009 Sonoma County Bar Association Bar Journal.
The Office of Eric S. Gullotta is a separate and distinct entity from Montgomery Taylor, LLC. Any legal advice will be soley from the Office of Eric S. Gullotta.

Gary Liess is a licensed professional in life insurance and annuities; he counsels and analyzes the needs of clients in that area of their financial plan which calls for safety, protection, guaranteed returns and generating an income for the rest of their life.
He also advises clients on how to pay for their children’s college education—without going broke. Gary teaches workshops on the subject of college financial aid planning and instructs families about the college admissions process, all the dos and don’ts of applying for financial aid and, of course, the strategic financial planning that must go along with it.
Gary has been in the financial services industry since 1989. He has been a seminar speaker on topics such as Mutual Fund Investing, IRA Planning, Living Trusts, Tenant in Common Investments and Structured Installment Sales. His experience has also included being a licensed real estate professional specializing in tax deferred investing, utilizing 1031 exchanges with Tenant in Common Investments and Structured Installment Sales. Gary is the author of “Investing in Tax Deed Certificates.”
Prior to entering the financial services field, Gary had a broad array of business experiences, including being a commercial pilot, owning a North Bay wholesale distribution business, serving on the Board of a Santa Rosa internet startup company, and investing in real estate for his own portfolio. Gary and his wife, Carolyn, have been residents of Sonoma County for the past 30 years. In his leisure time, he enjoys sailing, playing golf, making wine, gardening and traveling.

Phil Glassey joined our staff in the beginning of 2009. He enjoys the challenge of trying to keep up with the changes in tax laws given to us by our servants in Congress.
Phil has been a CPA for over 37 years. His career has included audits, tax preparation, controller and CFO of two small companies, and teaching accounting in college (including tax courses). He recently moved back to California after living 35 years in Seattle, Washington.
Phil likes to climb small mountains and camp in an Airstream trailer. He is a member of the Wally Byam Caravan Club (the Airstream owners association) and leads club caravans during the summer months. Last year his caravan of 23 units traveled fifty days visiting National Parks and other landmarks in the Northwest.
Phil’s first wife died in 2005. They have two children, one in Southern California and one in Seattle. Their four grandchildren are in college and high school. Last November he married a school teacher and they live in her house in Rohnert Park. Margie has three children and five grandchildren and has promised Phil she will keep track of everyone's birthday.

Greg Porter, with over 13 years of experience in the financial services industry, has developed the knowledge and wisdom to steer his clients through an increasingly complex and volatile investment environment.
Greg is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management from Sonoma State University. Upon graduation, he spent seven years as a stockbroker with Dean Witter and Prudential Bache Securities. After spending two years as a retirement analyst with the County of Sonoma, he joined Core Asset Management as a Marin county Registered Investment Advisor, responsible for the management of approximately $80,000,000 in client assets. As Vice President, he had the primary responsibility for approximately 150 client relationships and was a key member of the Investment Committee. Currently, he has his own Investment Management and Financial Planning practice. He spends considerable time keeping up with the constant changes in the marketplace by reading numerous industry publications and through continuing education. He has passed the CPA examination, as well as the NASD Series 7 and 66 examinations. He is also a licensed general contractor.
Greg's clients appreciate his ability to communicate complex subjects to them in a clear and understandable manner. They also appreciate the fact that he is easy to reach and is always ready to listen to their questions and concerns.

Barbara Shaw joined us in 2008 as our Client Services Manager. Barbara was a Business Education teacher for 20 years at the high school and junior college level. She retired after 17 years of teaching at Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park through the Sonoma County Regional Occupational Program. In 2001 she was recognized by Sonoma County’s School to Career Partnership as “Outstanding Career Education Teacher”. In addition to her teaching background, Barbara has over 15 years of experience working in accounting and office administration.
Barbara enjoys making a difference in the lives of others. She has the knowledge and experience to assist college-bound students and their families pursue their educational and career goals.
Barbara graduated from Humboldt State University with a B.S. in Accounting. She completed graduate work in Education, Counseling and Technology. Barbara enjoys spending time with her family and friends, gardening, traveling to foreign countries and scrapbooking her travel experiences.

Sandy Koppen joined us in December of 2009 as Front Office Manager. Prior to that time, Sandy devoted most of her energy to raising her two daughters and contributing her abilities to serving in a variety of volunteer positions in organizations ranging from Girl Scouts and Habitat for Humanity to her daughter's schools and her church congregation.
Originally from Minnesota, Sandy has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and most recently updated her skills with an Account Clerk certificate from Santa Rosa Junior College. She and her husband of 25 years have lived in California for the past 19 years. When she gets the chance, Sandy enjoys singing, reading, sewing, and gardening.
