Typical Clients

As I was going over the kind of clientele we have attracted at MT&C, the compiled data was rather interesting. I found that most of our clients fell into one of two distinct groups.

  1. Entrepreneurs and Self-Employed Professionals: they are over age 50, have been in business for over 10 years and what they want is to get control over their personal finances so they can focus energies on building a more profitable business.
  2. Retirees: they are over age 55, they worked in the same industry for over 20 years and what they want is to maintain their retirement lifestyle-regardless of the economy.

So, most of our clientele are either retired or nearing retirement, and therefore, tend to be pretty conservative investors. This fits very well with our approach to investing. As CPAs, the diversified (multi-asset class, multi-style, and multi-manager), tax-sensitive and risk controlled investment philosophy makes a lot of sense to us-and our retirement-minded clients.

For those of you that are “older,” here is a little chuckle.

Now that I’m older, here’s what I’ve discovered
I started out with nothing,
And still have most of it.
My wild oats have turned into
Prunes and All Bran.
I finally got my head together,
But now my body is falling apart.
Funny, I don’t remember
Being absent minded.
It’s not hard to meet expenses,
They’re everywhere.
If all is not lost, where is it?
It’s easier to get older than it is to get wiser.
Some days you are the dog,
Some days you’re the hydrant.
I wish the buck stopped here;
I could sure use a few.
If God wanted me to touch my toes,
He would have put them on my knees.
